Councilmember Scott Peters and City Council High School Intern Sophie Barnhorst at the Genesee Entrance project in Rose Canyon. Former Councilmember Harry Mathis helped kick off the restoration project which has thrived under the volunteer care of the Rose Canyon Recreation Council. The Rose Creek Watershed covers portions of five different San Diego City Council districts (1,2,5,6 and 7). While the largest land area is in council district 7 (the Miramar Marine Corps base), the population base in the watershed is primarily in district 1 (University City and eastern La Jolla, Mt Soledad) and district 6 (Clairemont Mesa). Each councilmember plus the mayor will be asked to take an active role in developing and implementing improvements in the Rose Creek Watershed.
You can contact the Mayor and City Council to inform them of your views regarding preservation of the Rose Creek Watershed at http://www.sandiego.gov/directories/government.shtml.
